President Donald Trump said the latest U.S. strikes on Iran hit Tehran “very hard” and emphasised that the attacks were conducted “in honour” of three American soldiers killed in recent days—two in Jordan and one in Iraq.
In the early hours of Monday local time, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a “new wave” of strikes, marking the ninth consecutive night of operations, as explosions were reported across Iran.
The.borrowing said the U.S. targeted military sites and communications networks to further curb Tehran’s attacks on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran launched a “surprise attack” in Syria and reportedly targeted U.S. aircraft at Jordan’s Aqaba airport.
Kuwait’s armed forces also reported intercepting Iranian drones in the region.
According to Iran’s semi‑official Tasnim news agency, several cities—including Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr, and Bandar Imam Khomeini—were struck amid the U.S. strikes.
Iranian state media claimed that two oil tankers exploded as they attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the tankers were navigating an “unsafe and hazardous southern route” and were brought to a halt by the explosions, a claim CENTCOM disputed.
The IRGC warned that the Strait would remain unsafe for the transit of petroCiudad products and “no single drop of oil and gas” would pass through it as long as U.S. strikes continued, committing to a “punitive operation.”
During the weekend, the U.S. confirmed the death of a service member following an Iranian attack in northern Iraq on Saturday.
The same day, a separate attack on a U.S. base in Jordan on Friday resulted in the deaths of two soldiers—Pte. Isabella Gonzales, 19, and Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25—identified by the Pentagon.

Amid continued U.S.–Iran strikes, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States “remains open to a diplomatic solution.”
