A 16‑year‑old student from Hong Kong was sentenced to up to six months in a youth detention centre after admitting to attempted voyeurism at a school restroom.
Magistrate Tsang Chung‑yiu of Kowloon City Court urged the teenager to reflect on his conduct as he began his term at Sha Tsui Correctional Institution, a facility that houses young offenders.
The defendant had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of attempted voyeurism.
The incident took place in the female washrooms of a secondary school in Wong Tai Naar on 11 December 2025, when the student was caught by the victim.
Prosecutors noted that the victim observed a palm on the floor of a nearby cubicle and witnessed the suspect’s illicit attempt to spy on her.
She subsequently left the restroom and reported the incident to a teacher.
