Idaho Steelheads Re-Sign Ty Pelton-Byce for 2026-27 Season

BOISE, ID – The Idaho Steelheads, ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced that the club has re-signed forward Ty Pelton-Byce to a contract for the 2026-27 season.

Pelton-Byce, 29, is entering his sixth professional season and fifth with the Steelheads after recording 41 points (13 goals-28 assists) in 59 regular-season games last season. He also contributed six points (4 goals-2 assists) during the team’s opening-round playoff series against the Allen Americans.

Throughout four seasons with the Steelheads, Pelton-Byce has accumulated 208 points (73 goals-135 assists) in 218 games, ranking fifth in the team’s history. He is just three points away from surpassing Lance Galbraith and Jefferson Dahl on the all-time points list. During the postseason, he has maintained an over-a-point-per-game pace, notching 39 points (18 goals-21 assists) in 35 playoff games with Idaho.

Overall, the Madison, Wisconsin native has played in 235 career ECHL games, tallying 217 points (76 goals-141 assists) across multiple teams, including the Steelheads and the Newfoundland Growlers. He also contributed 31 points (10 goals-20 assists) in 31 American Hockey League games during the 2020-24 seasons with the Manitoba Moose, Texas Stars, and Henderson Silver Knights.

Before entering professional hockey, Pelton-Byce divided his collegiate career between Harvard University (2016-18) and the University of Wisconsin (2019-21), recording 88 points (32 goals-56 assists) in 122 games across both programs. During his freshman season at Harvard, he was part of the 2016 ECAC championship team. In his senior year at Wisconsin, he served as an alternate captain and earned a B1G Honorable Mention after recording a career-high 31 points (12 goals-19 assists) in his final season, aiding the Badgers in securing the B1G regular-season title.
