(RTTNews) – Kenvue Inc. (KVUE) reported that the FDA approved TYLENOL with Naproxen, marking the first over-the-counter fixed-dose combination of acetaminophen (650 mg) and naproxen sodium (220 mg) designed for pain relief.
This formulation merges the rapid onset of acetaminophen with the sustained anti-inflammatory properties of naproxen sodium, delivering pain alleviation within 30 minutes and up to 12 hours of relief per dose. The approval targets a significant unmet need, as studies indicate 75% of individuals with chronic pain express dissatisfaction with existing treatments.
The agency’s decision is based on evidence from eight clinical trials demonstrating enhanced efficacy compared to single-ingredient alternatives. TYLENOL with Naproxen has been awarded three years of market exclusivity, reflecting its potential to diversify non-opioid pain management options.
Executives at Kenvue highlighted that the product streamlines pain treatment by consolidating active ingredients into a single dose.
Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Chief Medical Officer at Kenvue, stated that the combination provides “rapid efficacy, 12-hour coverage, and a safety profile rooted in two established non-opioid components within a fixed-dose formulation.”
TYLENOL with Naproxen is scheduled for imminent U.S. retail availability.
