In the earlier men’s game, Mitchell Marsh starred with the bat as Sunrisers Leeds secured their first win of The Hundred, defeating Southern Brave by five runs at Headingley.

After suffering a seven-wicket defeat by MI London in their opening match, Sunrisers rebounded emphatically with a gritty performance, while Southern Brave remained winless following their second consecutive loss.

Marsh and Ryan Rickelton sparked a strong start for Sunrisers, with the Australian blasting to 69 from just 34 deliveries. His aggressive batting exploited a wayward spell from Luke Wood, who surrendered 28 runs including four wides in the initial overs, enabling Sunrisers to surge to 102-0 at the midpoint of their innings.

Adil Rashid halted the momentum by claiming three wickets in succession, including a crucial dismissal of Marsh, effectively slowing the scoring rate and setting up a defendable total.
