Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are contending with another tight salary‑cap situation. After agreeing to a new contract with Jason Robertson, Dallas sits roughly $1.3 million over the cap and will need to create roster space before the season. Hughes has demonstrated an ability to exploit exactly these kinds of scenarios.

Montreal is unlikely to pursue those high‑profile names, given their contract burdens and fit. Pettersson’s cap hit remains heavy, Hronek would add redundancy to a already deep defence corps, and DeBrusk does not align with Hughes’ current priorities.
