Since confirming their relationship in early 2025, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have faced challenges with his long-standing friend Nicole Kidman, who reportedly distanced herself after his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness. Kidman, who has been a longtime ally of Deborra-Lee, has not engaged with Foster, and now another of Jackman’s close connections, Halle Berry, is cited as cautious about her dynamic with the Tony-winning performer, according to sources.
Deborra-Lee Furness has expressed support for Jackman’s bond with Berry, noting in July 2026 that “they absolutely have plans to do more work together.” Nevertheless, Foster has reportedly resisted aligning with Berry, saying the Oscar winner was “somewhat less confident and more insecure” than Deborra-Lee was during their shared history, the source claimed.

Food also claimed Foster has “zero interest” in befriending Berry, “supposedly because she’s ‘a somewhat less confident and more insecure person than Deb ever was.’”

“Sure, Sutton has chops for days when it comes to performing onstage … But behind the scenes she can be as nervous and insecure as a high school girl,” the source explained. Still, the Younger actress needs to “come to grips with the fact that Halle is going to be part of Hugh’s world no matter what, and she needs to act accordingly to win Halle’s approval and friendship.”
In the meantime, Nicole Kidman continues to support Deborra-Lee Furness through her post-divorce “glow-up,” encouraging her to explore new relationships and embrace a “post-divorce dating life geared toward empowerment.” Meanwhile, sources claim Nicole is tentative about re-establishing contact with Jackman, indicating she is “not ready to start playing nice” with Foster until things “settle down” between Deb and Hughes’s social circles.
