McLaren driver Lando Norris claimed his maiden win of the 2026 season in a thrilling Hungarian Grand Prix.
The defending champion, starting from pole position, was overtaken at the outset by teammate Oscar Piastri, who led the field for much of the early stage.
However, Piastri’s strategy unraveled when a second pit stop left him re‑entering traffic, where he was struck by lapped competitor Carlos Sainz on lap 39. The collision cost him several seconds, enabling Norris to execute an undercut and assume the race lead.
Shortly thereafter, Piastri experienced a gearbox failure that retired him from second place with just 13 laps remaining, eliminating any chance of a podium.
Norris ultimately crossed the line 15.080 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured third for Mercedes.

Charles Leclerc finished fourth in his Ferrari, while teammate Lewis Hamilton placed fifth after dropping a podium contention due to a five‑second pit‑lane speeding penalty.
After eleven rounds, Antonelli leads the championship by 50 points over second‑placed Hamilton.
Russell occupies third, nine points adrift of Hamilton, with a 59‑point gap to the leader.
Leclerc remains fourth with 138 points, while Norris’s victory in Hungary lifted his total to 128 points, reinforcing his fifth‑place standing.
