The Atlanta Braves have activated star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. from the 10-day injured list prior to Monday’s series opener against the New York Mets at Truist Park.
The five-time All-Star has been sidelined since June 9 due to a left hamstring strain, marking another setback in what has been an injury-plagued season for the 28-year-old. In 53 games this year, Acuna is batting .251 with seven home runs, 22 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.
Acuna previously dealt with the same hamstring issue in May, which cost him more than two weeks of action. The 2023 National League MVP has established himself as one of baseball’s most dynamic players, posting a career .287 batting average with 193 homers, 481 RBIs and 220 steals across 870 games since his 2018 debut.
To make room on the roster, the Braves optioned outfielder Brewer Hicklen to Triple-A Gwinnett. Hicklen, 30, contributed a .368 batting average (7-for-19) with four doubles and three RBIs in his eight-game stint with Atlanta.
