KARACHI:
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) trended downward during Tuesday’s morning session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index declining following a weak opening.
By 1:00 PM, the index had dropped to 177,982.68, representing a decrease of 279.65 points, or 0.16%, from the previous close of 178,262.33. Earlier in the session, the index hit a low of 177,914.38 at 9:39 AM, down 347.95 points (0.20%), before seeing a slight recovery.
Trading remained volatile throughout the session, with the index reaching an intraday high of 179,123.00 and a low of 177,903.87 as investors adopted a cautious stance. Despite the downward movement, market volume remained robust, with 339.48 million shares traded, totaling an approximate value of Rs19.71 billion.
Investor sentiment stayed subdued at midday, as profit-taking and cautious positioning weighed on the benchmark index, despite a partial rebound from the morning’s lows.
Market participants are closely watching afternoon developments to determine if the index will manage a recovery or conclude the session in the red.
