Islamabad, July 30 (APP) — The benchmark KSE‑100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its bearish momentum on Thursday, shedding 495 points, a decline of 0.28 % to close at 175,547.98, down from 176,042.99 the prior session.
Trading volume in the ready market reached 711.201 million shares, up from 574.076 million on Wednesday, while the traded value rose marginally to Rs25.396 billion from Rs25.369 billion. Market capitalisation fell to Rs19.718 trillion, down from Rs19.778 trillion the previous day.
Of the 495 companies that traded in the ready market, 175 posted gains, 279 posted losses, and 41 remained unchanged, underscoring the broadly bearish sentiment.
Trust Brokerage topped the volume chart with 176.884 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom (32.314 million) and Pak International Bulk (32.125 million).
Among the top gainers, PIA Holding Company Limited rose Rs325.32 to close at Rs18,000, while Bhanero Textile Mills Limited gained Rs78.92, ending at Rs879.
On the downside, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell Rs179.99 to Rs25,300.01, and Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited dropped Rs93.79 to Rs1,109.65.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover amounted to 382.309 million shares with a traded value of Rs17.732 billion, compared with 400.821 million shares and Rs18.079 billion in the prior session.
Of the 303 companies traded in the futures market, 74 advanced, 220 declined, and nine remained unchanged.
