A consortium led by Jeff Bezos has progressed talks to acquire roughly a 30% stake in Liverpool, BBC Sport reported.
The consortium is led by British-Indian millionaire businessman Amit Bhatia and also includes Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.
Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), confirmed last month that the consortium had expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club.
Bhatia, the son-in-law of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, previously served as a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years before stepping down from his stake in the club last month.
Jeff Bezos, the founder of e‑commerce giant Amazon and the world’s fourth‑richest person, is involved.
Forbes estimates his net worth at $256 billion (≈£192 billion).
FSG, which acquired Liverpool for £300 million in 2010, earlier sold a minority stake in the club to global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity.
