FIFA Leadership Under Fire as Concacaf, AFC, and UEFA Issue Open Letter

Pressure on Gianni Infantino and FIFA continues to mount. Concacaf, the AFC, and UEFA have issued a new statement expressing their concerns over the management of the sport’s governing body.

On August 10, 2026, Concacaf, the AFC, and UEFA released an “Open Letter to the Football Family.” In it, they questioned FIFAnio’s leadership and highlighted how recent commercial plans proposed by Gianni Infantino have harmed the sport.

Gianni Infantino Faces Heightened Scrutiny

In the letter, the three confederations explain that they felt deceived by FIFA regarding these commercial schemes. According to the statement, FIFA presented the plan on a compressed timeline to limit scrutiny and prevent member associations from properly reviewing the terms.
