Richmond Raceway will host the inaugural 2027 NASCAR Cup Series Chase opening event, marking the first time since 2021 that the Cup schedule features a race at the Virginia short track in September. The event, scheduled for the night of September 10‑11, will also serve as the debut Chase race for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
The weekend will commence on September 10‑11, shifting from its former August slot and joining the Southern 500 at Darlington as the opening round of the Chase.
