Following the collapse of negotiations between Bayern Munich and Aston Villa over Joao Palhinha, Newcastle United have emerged as leading contenders for the midfield talent. According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United are currently engaged in discussions with Bayern Munich concerning a potential permanent transfer for the 31-year-old Portuguese international. The Magpies have redirected their focus toward Palhinha after their pursuit of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg did not materialize, with the club eager to secure their target before the transfer window concludes. While Benfica and Sporting CP have shown interest in the player, the 31-year-old reportedly favors a return to the Premier League, where he spent the previous season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder was notably omitted from Bayern’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Telekom Cup on Saturday.
