Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans has reversed his decision regarding playing time for Thursday’s preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Multiple reporters indicate that the Texans will now sit their starters for the game.
Ryans had initially planned to field the first unit, but after Tuesday’s joint practice he believes the starters have accumulated sufficient work.
Additionally, second‑year wide receiver Jayden Higgins sustained a torn ACL during Tuesday’s session, ending his season. Higgins had tied for the team lead with six touchdown receptions as a rookie in 2025.
The Texans‑Raiders contest is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
