Heretic has finalized international distribution acquisitions for Alex Schulman’s dark comedy Adult Supervision (local title: Arkipelag), including agreements with Fandango (Italy), Palace Films (Australia/New Zealand), Vertigo Releasing (Hungary), CinemArt (Czech Republic and Slovakia), MCF (ex-Yugoslavia and Bulgaria), Mayfly (Poland), Inoekino (CIS), Taip Toliau (Lithuania), Estinfilm (Estonia), and Riga FF (Latvia).
Warner Bros. Discovery has additionally secured HBO Europe broadcast rights and HBO Max streaming rights across Central and Eastern Europe, effective post-theatrical runs.
The film premiered at the Next Wave Competition during Austin’s Fantastic Fest. Described as a chaotic school trip gone awry, the plot centers on three fathers navigating the volatility of chaperoning their teenage daughters amid escalating conflicts and blurred societal boundaries.
The project reunites three acclaimed Scandinavian actors: Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings), Fares Fares (The Nile Hilton Incident), and Linus Wahlgren (Partisan), alongside Schulman’s directorial debut. Schulman, a prominent Swedish author and co-host of the hit podcast Alex & Sigge’s, transitions from literature to filmmaking.
Cinematography by award-winning Jakob Järe (known for Chernobyl and collaborations with Joachim Trier) was highlighted in tackling the film’s tense character dynamics.
Production credits list Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden (Christina Legkova, producer), alongside co-producers RMV Film, Tiisch Film, Film Stockholm, and Scanbox Entertainment. The Swedish Film Institute and governmental economic agencies provided critical funding. Scanbox Entertainment manages domestic distribution in Sweden.
