Courtney Love Hails Slayyyter’s Captivating Cover of Hole’s ‘Violet’
Courtney Love has publicly praised Slayyyter after she performed a cover version of Hole’s iconic track “Violet”, describing the rendition as “delightful.”
The Australian singer-songwriter debuted the tribute during a recent appearance on Triple J’s acclaimed Like A Version series—a show that invites musicians to play their own songs while selecting a familiar anthem for a personal connection.
In her set, broadcast yesterday (Thursday, August 20), Slayyyter unveiled her newly released single “Brand New Chanel$,” which builds on the momentum from her earlier track “Beat Up Chanel$.” The performance features her bold rewrite of the 1994 Grunge classic from Hole’s *Live Through This* album.
The piece quickly caught the ear of Hole frontwoman Courtney Love, who posted a reaction to Instagram shortly after. She complimented the talent while humorously invoking routine housekeeping tasks, noting the artist has been hired to run the salon and “continue wiping the floors.” (“That’s a DELIGHT! ”), adding that Slayyyter seems poised to make a permanent return to St. Louis.
Slayyyter replied to the comment roll, expressing hope that the gesture had lifted Courtney’s spirits.

The appearance on the Australian radio show follows the release of Slayyyter’s latest album, WORST GIRL IN AMERICA, in March, along with several summer festival appearances, including Coachella.
NME granted the album a four‑star review, calling its sound a “new strain of brash, sleazy pop” that blends psychedelic dream‑pop with cinematic intensity—the kind of music that can “touch us the way all great movies do.”
Courtney Love has also shared updates about her second solo effort, the long‑awaited follow‑up to her 2004 debut *America’s Sweetheart*. In a conversation with NME, she hinted that Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant joined the recording sessions, though she initially dismissed attempts involving PJ Harbor in favor of the Bunnymen veteran.
Earlier this year, Love confirmed that the upcoming record will feature ex‑Hole collaborator Melissa Auf Der Maur, and previously revealed speculation that political circumstances may have opened doors for a possible reunion.
