The Analog Music Shop in Tustin, California — the record store nearest to singer Daisy Chain Fields — received a Handmaid’s Tale-inspired track ahead of its digital release, and all 500 CD copies have been sold.
Olivia Rodrigo surprise‑released her new single “Serena Joy” on Friday through a limited‑edition CD single available exclusively at an independent record shop close to her upcoming Daisy Chain Fields festival.
Tustin’s Analog Music Shop, located 7.5 miles from Irvine’s Great Park where the Daisy Chain Fields festival will take place next weekend, announced on social media that Rodrigo supplied 500 CD copies of her Handmaid’s Tale-inspired song; by Friday night, the shop had sold out.
“When we learned that Olivia Rodrigo was launching an all‑women music festival in Orange County, we were thrilled to see such a special event happening right here in our hometown,” the shop posted on social media. “As one of the nearest record stores, we wanted to support Daisy Chain Fields.”
“We knew Olivia has a history of supporting record stores, and we were surprised to learn that she is releasing a new song ahead of Daisy Chain Fields called ‘Serena Joy,’ with physical CD copies to be sold exclusively at Analog Record Shop. The best part is that she is making it available three days before anyone else can hear it. This represents a significant moment: an artist creating a platform for women in music, raising funds for women and girls, supporting a local independent record store, and giving our community a special experience.”
“I truly love ‘Serena Joy,’” Rodrigo told Etalk. “It didn’t fit on the album. The record tells the story of a relationship — its beginning, middle, and end. I hope it will find a new home.”
Rodrigo has not commented on the limited‑edition release, but Analog Record Shop indicated that “Serena Joy” will receive a broader digital release on Monday.
