Sunderlandhave signed midfielder Jules Ahoka from Royal Antwerp for €10 million (£8.6 million).
The Black Cats said that 20‑year‑old DR Congo youth international Jules Ahoka has signed a long‑term contract with the club.
“I am delighted and proud to join Sunderland,” Ahoka said, having featured in both of Antwerp’s league matches this season.
“It is a prestigious club with ambitious goals, and I am excited to be part of it.”
“I intend to work hard, learn from my teammates and staff, and continue developing as a player. I will give my all for the club and look forward to getting started.”
Ahoka becomes the third summer signing for the Black Cats, joining the arrivals of Belgian left‑back Thomas Meunier and French right‑back Dayann Methalie.
“Jules is a player we have been closely monitoring and he has displayed very encouraging qualities for his age,” said Sunderland director of football Florent Ghisolfi.
“He has tremendous potential, and we believe Sunderland provides the ideal environment for him to continue his development.”
Sunderland fell to a 2‑1 defeat against Ipswich in their Premier League opener on Saturday. Their next fixture is against Fulham on Sunday at 14:00 BST.
