Kushner Delivers Direct Warning to Hamas Leadership in Cairo Talks

Israeli media reports indicate that U.S. envoy Jared Kushner issued a stark warning to Hamas during a recent meeting with the group’s deputy political bureau chief, Khalil al-Hayya, in Cairo.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Kushner cautioned that any violation of current understandings or efforts to conceal weaponry would result in a suspension of the political process, granting Israel full latitude to resume military operations. The meeting reportedly followed intelligence gathered by the United States and mediators suggesting that certain Hamas factions were planning to renege on commitments to disarm and cease military reconstruction.

Citing the Israeli network, Kushner reportedly told Hamas representatives that “the test of trust will be in the implementation, and if you try to cheat, the process will stop and no one will stand in Israel’s way.” He emphasized the necessity for the group to adhere strictly to all agreement terms, specifically highlighting full disarmament and a halt to military mobilization.

Kushner met with Hamas leaders in the Egyptian city of El Alamein earlier this month to discuss President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in the Gaza Strip, after Israel rejected the proposed roadmap. Hamas has since announced its acceptance of the roadmap for the second phase of Trump’s plan, stating its readiness to implement the agreement to secure a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

In a statement, Hamas confirmed that its delegation, led by al-Hayya, met under Egyptian auspices with representatives of the mediators and guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire agreement to discuss implementation mechanisms for the deal and the broader roadmap.
