Zimbabwe Recall Veteran Cremer for Namibia T20I Tri-Series

Zimbabwe have confirmed a 15-player squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Namibia, headlined by the return of experienced leg-spinner Graeme Cremer to the national fold. The tournament runs in Windhoek from August 28 to September 6 and features South Africa alongside the hosts, uniting the three co-hosts of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Veteran leg-spinner back in the mix

Sikandar Raza retains the captaincy as Zimbabwe aim to build momentum in the shortest format ahead of a packed international schedule. Cremer’s recall is the standout selection; the leg-spinner sat out recent home series against Bangladesh and India while rehabilitating a left-arm injury. His return adds a seasoned option to the bowling attack, a potential asset across a competition featuring six group-stage matches per side.

Kundai Matigimu earns a place in the squad

Selectors have also called up Kundai Matigimu, who has previously featured in Test cricket. Despite only a single Test appearance, his inclusion signals an intent to widen the talent pool and expose emerging players to the international arena.

The roster balances proven performers with developing talent. Raza, Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Ben Curran, Brad Evans, Innocent Kaia and Wessly Madhevere form an experienced core, while younger members will be eager to seize their opportunities.

The round-robin format leaves minimal margin for error. Each nation faces the other twice in the league phase, guaranteeing six matches to determine the finalists who meet on September 6. Richard Ngarava to miss the series

Pace spearhead Richard Ngarava remains sidelined as he continues rehabilitation from a lower-back injury. His absence deprives the attack of significant experience and penetration.

Tanaka Chivanga is also unavailable following Achilles tendon surgery after a practice injury. Consequently, Zimbabwe will lean heavily on Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans and Newman Nyamhuri to lead the new-ball duties.
