Meta has reached a settlement in a significant lawsuit filed by 29 U.S. states, which accused the company’s social media platforms of being engineered to hook young users and of misleading the public regarding associated risks. According to court documents released Wednesday, the agreement commits Meta to paying the states up to a combined total of $16.68 billion.
