Will Ospreay Opens Up About Schoolyard Taunts Over His Wrestling Aspirations

AEW wrestler Will Ospreay recently discussed how he was teased during school for his passion for professional wrestling.

In the newest episode of REBUILD & DESTROY, Ospreay revisited his former school in England, sharing his memories. While he formed lifelong friendships there, he admitted he disliked the experience due to mockery from classmates over his wrestling ambitions.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m standing on my old school grounds. I have a lot of great memories in here, like, so many, like, friends that I’ve had from this school that I still carry over to now. Just a lot of, like, happy memories, but I won’t lie to you, I flipping hated school, and I think it was a lot of people who used to take the piss out of me because I wanted to pursue pro wrestling. I wanted to do something that was different, and I could never shut it off in my brain.

“Everyone from school knew that I was mad into wrestling and that I just wanted to do this. I wasn’t good at my schoolwork. I wasn’t good at any of that. So the fact that I got like embarrassed so much because I remember being in school and they would be like, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ I remember standing in front of everyone saying ‘a wrestler,’ and they were just… I got laughed at, man! It was not nice, but… Heyo!”
