The Los Angeles Rams remain uncertain whether Aaron Donald will rejoin the team for the upcoming season.
Following Thursday night’s preseason finale, head coach Sean McVay acknowledged he cannot provide clarity on the logistics of a potential return—including roster mechanics or contract implications—because Donald himself has not made a final decision.
“I think all of those things are up in the air,” McVay said. “I wish I had a little bit better ability to give you some clarity, but it’s really one of those deals that, what we’re doing is focusing on this football team. Aaron knows that if he wants to be able to do that, that’s something that we absolutely want to be able to entertain and figure out, and that’s really all there is to it right now.”
The 35-year-old defensive tackle, widely regarded as one of the greatest interior linemen in NFL history, retired after the 2023 campaign. Though he has trained with the Rams this offseason and signaled interest in a comeback, the organization remains in a holding pattern until he formally commits. With the regular-season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia less than two weeks away on September 10, time is running short for a resolution.
