At a press conference preceding the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, Olivia Rodrigo announced a $10 million donation to nonprofit partners.
Taking inspiration from the iconic 1990s Lilith Fair festivals, the single‑day event launches today, August 29, at Irvine’s Great Park. The festival will feature two stages showcasing women and female‑fronted artists, accompanied by nonprofit and community organizations, with performances from Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Garbage and more.
Rodrigo is set to perform, with the lineup also confirmed to include Mitski, The Breeders, Santigold, Rachel Chinouriri, Die Spitz, Eli, Not For Radio and Quiet Light, alongside special guests Karen O, Sarah McLachlan and Stevie Nicks.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Rodrigo described the festival as being “created to celebrate the power of what can happen when we come together to support one another.”
The partnered organizations are doing vital work across the United States and globally, Rodrigo said. She expressed gratitude to every ticket buyer, artist who waived their fee, festival sponsors and donors who helped reach the $10 million milestone in support of women and girls.
‘I can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow,’ Rodrigo added.
Proceeds will support nonprofit organizations dedicated to advocating for women and girls, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, the Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, the National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood. The festival will also provide educational resources and community art experiences, fan pop-ups and immersive installations, with a focus on reproductive rights, maternal health, economic empowerment, domestic violence prevention and gender equity.
Rodrigo has a long history of advocating for reproductive rights and opposing anti-abortion laws. In early 2024, she launched an initiative “to support all women, girls and people seeking reproductive health freedom,” confirming that a portion of proceeds from the ‘Guts’ world tour would contribute to the fund.
Later that year, Rodrigo made headlines for distributing contraceptive kits containing condoms, Plan B and abortion‑access information at shows in Missouri, where nearly all abortions were banned in 2022.
The initiative drew criticism from Republican figures, including Missouri State Senator Bill Eigel, who called the gesture “horrifying” and said Rodrigo “should be ashamed” for “championing abortion.” Local abortion organizers later reported they were no longer permitted to distribute contraceptive kits at the concerts.
Prior to that, Rodrigo used her Glastonbury 2022 set to bring out Lily Allen and dedicate ‘Fuck You’ to U.S. Supreme Court justices, who had recently overturned a half‑century law guaranteeing women the right to terminate a pregnancy. She declared, “our bodies should never be in the hands of politicians.”
Earlier this week, KATSEYE withdrew from the festival after member Megan Skiendiel sprained her ankle during tour rehearsals.
Following this weekend, Rodrigo is scheduled to launch her ‘Unraveled’ world tour next month, kicking off in North America and stopping at The O2 in London next April. Full dates and remaining tickets are available here.
NME awarded Rodrigo’s latest album, ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love,’ four and a half stars, writing, “Here is a major popstar who is not afraid to get weirder and more wonderful, to give even more of themselves over in their art. ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’ is undeniable evidence of Rodrigo’s growth: as a songwriter, composer, and as a human being.”
She has officially released her politically charged new track ‘Serena Joy’ on streaming platforms, following a limited run of just 500 CDs sold exclusively at Analog Record Shop in Tustin, California last Friday, August 21.
