FX’s Adults stands out as one of the most underappreciated series currently on television, and with the arrival of season 2, it has solidified its position as arguably the finest comedy on streaming platforms. Both critics and audiences have responded enthusiastically, pushing Adults season 2 to an extraordinary Rotten Tomatoes milestone—not only within its genre, but across all shows released in 2026.
At present, Adults season 2 holds the highest combined critic and audience score of any 2026 series, boasting a flawless 100% critic rating alongside a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. While the volume of audience reviews remains relatively limited, these strong numbers are mirrored on IMDB as well.
This remarkable combination places it ahead of the year’s most prominent series. Below is a ranking of the top combined scores for 2026 shows, with Adults claiming the number one spot.
- Adults season 2 – 100% critic score + 98% audience score = 198
- Widow’s Bay season 1 – 98% critic score + 92% audience score = 190
- Sugar season 2 – 97% critic score + 93% audience score = 190
- Furious season 1 – 98% critic score + 88% audience score = 186
- Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord season 12 – 98% critic score + 93% audience score = 191
- Hacks season 5 – 97% critic score + 89% audience score = 186
- The Pitt season 2 – 99% critic score + 85% audience score = 184
- The Bear season 5 – 96% critic score + 85% audience score = 181
- Ride or Die season 1 – 96% critic score + 84% audience score = 180
- Margo’s Got Money Troubles season 1 – 96% critic score + 81% audience score = 177
- Lanterns season 1 – 94% critic score + 82% audience score = 176
- A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – 95% critic score + 79% audience score = 173
- My Brilliant Career season 1 – 100% critic score + 57% audience score = 157
The pattern is unmistakable. Adults currently leads the pack. Although it is still early in the year, Adults would need to drop by a full 8% to slip into a tie for second place with Widow’s Bay and, surprisingly, Sugar season 2. For Adults, this represents a significant improvement over season 1, which earned a 76% critic score and an 84% audience score. Now, it is celebrated as one of television’s standout comedies—a characterization that is entirely warranted.
Even if these rankings shift slightly over time, it is evident that Adults is on track to be among the highest-rated productions of the year. Notably, nearly every show on this list has been confirmed for an additional season, with the exception of series that recently concluded, such as The Bear and Hacks.
Without reservation, Adults comes highly recommended. Season 1 set a strong foundation, but season 2 elevates the series even further—and viewers can form their own opinions on whether these scores are justified.
