Beyond his Hamburg triumph, Fery had etched his name into the wider tennis consciousness by reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon earlier this summer. His run to the Winston-Salem final lifted him to a new career-high ranking of No. 33 in the live standings, simultaneously surpassing Cameron Norrie to become British No. 1.
