Michael Neser signs two-year deal to remain with Brisbane Heat until BBL 2027-28

Michael Neser has committed to the Brisbane Heat on a new two‑year agreement, anchoring himself to the club through the 2027‑28 season of the Big Bash League. The deal was confirmed on 30 August and guarantees a seventh season for the 36‑year‑old pace bowler wearing the Heat kit.

Over 105 BBL outings, Neser has taken 117 wickets at an economical 24.53 bowling average, an economy rate of 8.43 and a strike rate of 17.4, featuring a best spell of 4‑25. This performance seats him ninth on the competition’s all‑time wicket‑taking rankings.

Michael Neser’s Journey with the Brisbane Heat

Neser made his debut for the Heat in the 2011‑12 season, entering at 21 years old. He later transferred to the Adelaide Strikers for nine seasons (2012‑13 to 2020‑21), winning a title alongside the side before returning to Brisbane in 2021.

His subsequent tenure with the Heat has produced highlights of his elite spray. In 2022 he recorded a career maximum of 26 wickets as the club challenged for the final, and in 2023 he tallied 12 wickets, including the decisive dismissal of Daniel Hughes that sealed the Heat’s second BBL triumph over the Sydney Sixers. Injuries and international duties limited his participation thereafter, leaving only six matches across the following two seasons due to a left‑hamstring issue and Test obligations.

Upcoming Availability Amidst National Commitments
