ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (APP): The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) fell sharply on Monday, shedding 720.83 points, a decline of 0.41 percent, to close at 176,975.68 points, down from the previous session’s closing level of 177,696.51 points.
The ready market trading volume reached 937.270 million shares, contrasting with 658.327 million shares in the prior session, while the total traded value rose to Rs39.134 billion from Rs31.454 billion. Market capitalization contracted to Rs19.830 trillion, compared to Rs19.885 trillion recorded the day before.
Among the 503 companies actively traded in the ready market, 169 registered gains, 302 experienced losses, and 32 remained unchanged, underscoring the market’s bearish momentum.
Cnergyico PK led the volume rankings with 293.181 million shares traded, followed by Waves Home (R) at 71.228 million shares and Bank of Punjab at 52.290 million shares.
Top performers included Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited, which surged Rs143.62 to close at Rs25,674.98, and Attock Refinery Limited, gaining Rs93.41 to settle at Rs1,197.49.
On the downside, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited declined by Rs49.89 to Rs9,250.11, while Nestle Pakistan Limited fell Rs47.45 to Rs7,473.54.
In the DFC futures market, turnover totaled 238.374 million shares with a traded value of Rs11.702 billion, compared to 859.712 million shares worth Rs34.758 billion in the previous session. Of the 305 companies traded in the DFC market, 123 advanced, 175 declined, and 7 remained unchanged.
