Promoter Messina Touring Group confirmed on Monday that Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour, after numerous venues on the U.S. leg declined to book him, resulting in potential cancellation and significant fan disruption.
Macklemore announced in a statement that the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium proprietor Robert Kraft reached out to Elvis and insisted that he be barred from performing at their arena, presenting the request as a consequence for advocating Palestine.
On Tuesday, Ed Sheeran clarified that the venues’ decision was driven largely by Macklemore’s articulation of support for Palestine during his performance at Sheeran’s MetLife Stadium on September 4.
