ACI Worldwide, a leading financial technology provider, has activated a new settlement route aligned with SWIFT’s emerging multi-ledger framework. Ripple’s XRP Ledger has been designated as a supported payment rail within ACI’s infrastructure.

Major SWIFT Processor Designates Ripple as DLT Partner

The collaboration among SWIFT, Ripple, and ACI is significant because Ripple’s technology stack is already compatible with SWIFT’s new messaging standard. ISO 20022, the global benchmark for financial messaging, has seen progressive adoption by compliant institutions.

ACI Worldwide processes approximately 9% of global SWIFT traffic, representing an annualized volume of $155 trillion. As the company expands support for real-time payment schemes worldwide, XRP-based settlement systems are positioned to capture a portion of this substantial flow.

Over recent years, Ripple’s relationship with SWIFT has evolved from direct competition to a complementary partnership focused on settlement and liquidity solutions. SWIFT’s current strategy emphasizes collaboration with multiple blockchain networks.

Ripple’s Strategic Advantage in Emerging SWIFT-Linked Systems

Central to XRP’s utility is On-Demand Liquidity (ODL), which allows SWIFT-connected banks to utilize XRP as a bridge currency for instant settlement, converting seamlessly back to local fiat. This capability provides a 24/7 payment corridor.

In 2025, Ripple acquired GTreasury, a SWIFT-Certified Partner. Following the acquisition, the platform now supports SWIFT messaging, reference data (including SWIFTRef for IBAN/ABA lookups), and digital asset accounts encompassing XRP and RLUSD.

This integration enables corporate treasury teams to manage traditional SWIFT flows and digital assets from a single system. While SWIFT does not mandate the use of Ripple’s stack, the network’s native ISO 20022 support gives distributed ledger technology a distinct operational advantage.
