A flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, made an emergency landing in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Sunday evening after a bomb threat was reported, Bulgarian state television reported.
According to a BNT report citing the transport ministry, the aircraft en route to Vienna was carrying 51 passengers and six crew members. A crew member received the threat, prompting the deployment of a fighter jet to escort the plane until it landed.
The incident is under investigation, the broadcaster said, and the airline involved has not been identified.
Bulgaria’s defense ministry confirmed that fighter jets responded after the threat was reported on the Airbus A320.
