AJ Styles has indicated he may pursue a final match following his recent WWE retirement.
After losing to GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble 2026, the former two‑time WWE Champion retired from active competition. Styles has since been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and now serves as a backstage talent scout.
During an appearance on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Styles discussed the possibility of one more in‑ring bout after his retirement. He explained that WWE typically grants retired wrestlers a single comeback match, though he offered no guarantee. “Never say never,” he said, leaving the door modestly ajar for a potential return.
“That’s right,” Styles remarked, “but I have said this before, and I’ll say it again. Usually we’re granted one comeback for one match. I’m not saying it’s gonna happen. I’m just saying usually it’s granted. Never say never.”
AJ Styles Teases Tag Team Potential with Son Avery
On the What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon podcast, Styles hinted that teaming with his son Avery—who recently made his wrestling debut—would be an attractive opportunity. He also mentioned that his daughter shows interest in the sport and could become a standout performer.
“I’d love the chance to tag with him once,” Styles said of his son. “Who knows what the future holds? There may come a time when the gloves never go back on—perhaps sooner rather than later.”
He added, “My youngest son shows no interest in sports at all, but if my daughter gets into wrestling, she could be a real star. Think of a female Rey Mysterio—tiny, quick, and captivating. We’ll see how it develops.”
