Youth side struggles in the U-21 league
Al Nassr has announced contract renewals for four promising youth players and added two new signings to strengthen its academy.
The signatories include Abdulrahman Al‑Anzi, Yousef Al‑Tahan, Fawaz Al‑Mashhour, and Abdulrahman Sufyani, who had previously attracted interest from Al Hilal.
Sufyani’s renewal marks his second contract extension, recognizing his strong performances with the U‑21 side during the recent Saudi Elite League season. The club had earlier extended his contract in December 2025 on a three‑year terms, a decision made amid reported interest from a rival club.
In addition, Al Nassr signed Tunisian forward Yassine Salam from Al Ettifaq and brought in goalkeeper Abdulhadi Al‑Alwan on loan from Al Fateh for the remainder of the season.
The new signings arrive during a challenging period for Al Nassr’s U‑21 squad, which has struggled from the start of the season. Currently 14th in the Saudi U‑21 Elite League with six points from two wins and two losses, the team risks elimination from the quarter‑final stage.
These developments follow reports that the club’s financial restrictions may have been lifted, though no official confirmation has been provided. If true, Al Nassr could now pursue free‑agent signings, which were previously restricted.
Overall, the contract extensions and new acquisitions demonstrate Al Nassr’s commitment to a long‑term strategy, safeguarding its top youth talents while bolstering a developing academy.
With Sufyani and his teammates secured, the club hopes its academy investment will yield results, improving league performance and ultimately producing players ready for the first team.
