Comedian Ali G, portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen, ridicules Noel Gallagher’s recent Oasis reunion in a video recorded in front of a full cinema audience.
The footage, posted on social media on October 24, coincides with the release of Cohen’s new film Ali G: Who Iz I?, which opened in theaters a day earlier.
In the clip, Ali G enters a crowded cinema screening and singles out Gallagher, feigning ignorance of his identity. He remarks that Gallagher resembles “one of the Oasis twins,” then forces him to stand before the audience.
Addressing the crowd, Ali G asks, “It’s Nigel Gallagher, innit?” and characterizes him as “a 50‑year‑old white man trying to revive his career after two decades, which is rather sad.”
He also jokes that he can sell selfies, marijuana, and “a handjob from Julie” to cinema-goers, while the Instagram caption accompanying the post reads, “not even Nole Gallagher could get a seat to see my movie.”
The exchange follows a 2015 remark by Gallagher in which he said he enrolled his children in private school to prevent them from speaking like Ali G.
Cohen’s return to the Ali G persona, first introduced on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998 and later featured in Da Ali G Show and the 2002 film Ali G Indahouse, has drawn criticism for allegedly perpetuating racial stereotypes. Cohen defended the decision, stating that the character’s outdated and problematic nature is precisely why he revived it.
Gallagher, meanwhile, appeared on the final season of Chicken Shop Date, joining host Amelia Dimoldenberg to discuss the Oasis reunion, his collaboration with brother Liam, and the band’s future plans.
When asked how long one should wait before reviving a project that has ended, Gallagher answered “16 years,” referencing the 2009 Oasis split and the group’s reunion the previous year.
The Oasis comeback has been documented in the film Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, released in cinemas last month and now streaming on Disney+. Reviewers praised the documentary, awarding it four and a half stars and describing it as “masterfully done, with moments of irreverence and intense passion burning throughout.”
Oasis is set to embark on its sold‑out ‘Live ’27’ tour, featuring 42 dates across the UK, Europe, and North America, including eleven shows at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and six at Knebworth.
