Great Britain’s Amber Rutter secured bronze at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy, marking her return to international competition after the birth of her second son.
The 28-year-old, who welcomed her child in October, concluded the event behind world-record performances by Sara Bongini and silver medalist Victoria Larsson in the ISSF’s new 36-target finals format.
Rutter was added to Team GB’s Paris Olympics roster just two months postpartum and previously claimed silver in the women’s skeet final after a disputed shoot-off conclusion.
“I’m exhausted, but it feels incredible to be back,” Rutter stated. “The nerves were real, competing on such a grand stage with unprecedented competition levels. I’m thrilled with the bronze achievement.”
“Three consecutive days of intense shooting pushed me beyond recent limits, especially in the sweltering conditions. Managing heat and maintaining focus were critical challenges I navigated.”
It’s been an extraordinary event, but I’m eager to reunite with my children now.”
