Glamorgan have appointed Andy Gorvin as captain for the 2026 One-Day Cup, with the all‑rounder set to replace Kiran Carlson, who will be playing for London Spirit in The Hundred 2026, which overlaps with the domestic 50‑over competition. Gorvin, a key figure in Glamorgan’s One-Day Cup victories of 2021 and 2024, is regarded as one of the squad’s most reliable performers.
Renowned for his maturity, leadership and the respect he commands in the dressing‑room, Gorvin was the obvious choice to lead the side. His ability to set high standards, unite the squad and drive consistent performances was decisive. Director of Cricket Mark Wallace welcomed the appointment, highlighting Gorvin’s influence within the group and the example he sets both on and off the field.
“With multiple players away at The Hundred the competition allows us to give opportunities to different players within our squad. Andy is one of the most popular and respected members of the squad and I’m delighted that he will be able to show his leadership qualities on the field as captain of Glamorgan for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign,” said Wallace as quoted by Glamorgan Cricket.
Gorvin will commence preparations promptly as Glamorgan gear up for the start of their 2026 One-Day Cup campaign, aiming to add another successful chapter to the club’s rich 50‑over history. The team will open its campaign against Sussex at the Gnoll in Neath on Wednesday, 22 July.
Meanwhile, David Harrison will return as head coach for the One-Day Cup, taking up the role he previously held during Glamorgan’s 2021 title‑winning campaign.
“It’s an absolute privilege to be leading Glamorgan in the One-Day Cup this season. We have an exciting crop of younger players coming through, and together with some more experienced heads we are looking to build on performances from the other formats this season and in the ODC over the last few years. We can’t wait to get going in Neath next week,” said Gorvin.
