The Kansas City Chiefs sit at 4‑0, just one victory away from placing Andy Reid in an exclusive fraternity of NFL head coaches.
A win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday would give Reid his fifth 5‑0 start with Kansas City, adding to the 5‑0 beginning he posted with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004.
Only two coaches in NFL history — George Halas and Paul Brown — have achieved six or more seasons that opened 5‑0. Halas accomplished the feat ten times over his 40‑year tenure with the Chicago Bears, while Brown did it six times split between the Cleveland Browns (1946‑1962) and the Cincinnati Bengals (1968‑1975).
Entering the matchup as an 8.5‑point favorite against the winless Chargers, Reid has a strong chance to secure his sixth 5‑0 start as a head coach.
