Apple Music is adding a new karaoke recording feature that lets users capture their own performances directly within the app, eliminating the need for third‑party tools. The company first introduced a basic karaoke mode called “Sing” in 2022, and the upcoming “Selfie Sing” builds on that foundation. Set to roll out with iOS 27.3 (currently in beta), the feature enables users to record videos of themselves singing while lyrics scroll in real time. However, Selfie Sing is limited to a curated playlist rather than the entire Apple Music catalog.
Apple describes Selfie Sing as a collection of instantly recognizable hits that naturally invite group singing. “This playlist is loaded with them, each one ready to become your next Selfie Sing,” the company notes. The initial lineup includes Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” Madonna’s “Like a Virgin,” Britney Spears’s “Baby One More Time,” and Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5.”
To use the feature, users simply select a song from the playlist and activate the camera to begin recording. Voice‑effect options such as Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall, and Studio can be applied to adjust tone or volume before saving or sharing the video with friends. The release of iOS 27.3 beta also introduces enhanced Siri AI capabilities and a refreshed Health app, with the full update slated for a December launch.
