Apple TV has renewed “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” a series co-created by David E. Kelley and Eva Anderson, for a second season. The series, based on Rufi Thorpe’s best-selling novel, stars Elle Fanning as the titular character. After dropping out of Fullerton College, Margo supports herself and her newborn baby by creating content for OnlyFans. Assisted by her roommate Susie (Thaddea Graham) and her former professional wrestler father Jinx (Nick Offerman), Margo develops an alien persona for her TikTok content and sex work platform. She partners with Rico Nasty’s KC and Lindsey Normington’s Rose in this venture.
The first season features several dramatic developments, including a custody battle for baby Bodhi between Margo and the child’s father, Mark Gable (Michael Angarano). Additionally, her father tragically relapses into drug addiction towards the season’s conclusion.
The cast also includes Michelle Pfeiffer, who also serves as an executive producer, as Margo’s mother Shyanne; Greg Kinnear as Shyanne’s new husband Kenny; Marcia Gay Harden as Mark’s mother Elizabeth Gable; and Nicole Kidman as Jinx’s wrestling colleague-turned-lawyer Linda “Lace” Sawkins.
“Margo’s Got Money Troubles” is produced for Apple TV by A24. David E. Kelley is the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Other executive producers include Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures; Nicole Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films; Matthew Tinker for David E. Kelley Productions; Michelle Pfeiffer; author Rufi Thorpe; Eva Anderson; and Boo Killebrew. BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Dearbhla Walsh directed the pilot episode and also serves as an executive producer, with Kate Herron and Alice Seabright among the additional directors.
