The forthcoming MacBook Pro will incorporate OLED touchscreen technology and is said to be considerably lighter. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is achieving this weight reduction by redesigning internal components, miniaturizing parts, and reconfiguring the layout.

The touchscreen model is expected to retain the current high‑end M5 chips rather than the next‑generation M7 processors, which are slated for early 2027. Gurman confirmed the device will launch next month alongside the first OLED‑equipped iPad mini. Present MacBook Pro sizes weigh 3.4 lb for the 14‑inch version and up to 4.7 lb for the 16‑inch variant.

This upcoming release could mark a major hardware milestone for new CEO John Ternus, who is emphasizing product design after a career as a hardware engineer. Gurman notes that one of Ternus’s initial strategic moves was to reorganize the design teams, placing them under his direct oversight.
