ABUJA, Nigeria — Armed gunmen assaulted a village in northwest Nigeria, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 individuals and leaving several wounded, according to local residents on Monday.
The assault took place late Sunday night in Naridon village, located in Kaduna State’s Kaura local government area, according to Derek Christopher, chairman of the Southern Kaduna Peace and Security Network. He noted that the same village had been targeted around the same period last year.
Raphael Joshua, a resident assisting the wounded, informed The Associated Press that the victims’ bodies had been taken to a nearby hospital and that funeral arrangements were underway.
