Filming on Miami Vice ’85 was disrupted Friday night after a man threatened a production crew member with a butcher knife.
According to an NYPD spokesperson, 23-year-old Alex Perez of Brooklyn was arrested around 11:15 p.m. near Avenue N and McDonald Avenue. He was charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
A member of the production team told police that Perez drew the knife following a verbal dispute, leaving him fearful for his safety.
Perez was taken into custody and the knife was recovered. No injuries were reported. Deadline has reached out to Universal for comment.
Production on Miami Vice ’85 began this month across New Jersey and New York City, where Michael B. Jordan has been seen filming in character as Ricardo Tubbs.
Universal announced the reboot of the 1980s NBC series last year. Joseph Kosinski is directing from a screenplay by Dan Gilroy and Eric Warren Singer. Jordan stars as Tubbs, with Austin Butler cast as Sonny Crockett.
The ensemble cast also includes Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, Danny Ramirez, John Leguizamo, Andrew Schulz, Walton Goggins, André Holland, Michael Irby, and Haley Lu Richardson.
