Arsenal are considering a significant approach for Roma defender Wesley Franca next summer.
The club were linked with the Brazilian full‑back earlier this summer, but a pre‑World Cup injury curtailed any immediate interest. After Franca recovered and rejoined Roma for the new campaign, Arsenal opted not to lodge a formal bid.
However, with concerns over the future of fellow right‑back Ben White, who enters the final year of his contract in July 2027, the Gunners could revisit the market. The club appears open to selling White and is evaluating upgrades, with Wesley Franca emerging as a leading candidate.
White’s status has been a talking point throughout the season; Arsenal initially considered moving him but retained him following Jurrien Timber’s injury. If White departs next year, his departure would free up funds for a more attacking full‑back.
Franca, 23, has been deployed as a wing‑back on both flanks for Roma, having previously established himself as a right‑back at Flamengo. Arsenal view him as an attacking full‑back who could provide greater offensive contribution, representing a tactical improvement for their back line.
