Cristian Romero is strongly linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The 28‑year‑old centre‑back is seeking a club where he can compete for major trophies, and Arsenal have emerged as a leading candidate.
According to Tottenham insider Paul O’Keeffe, Romero is eager to join Arsenal. While the historic rivalry between the two north‑London clubs could complicate negotiations, Romero’s existing relationship with Arsenal’s assistant manager, Gabriel Heinze, may help facilitate a transfer.
Romero is regarded as one of the Premier League’s top defenders, and his departure would represent a significant loss for Tottenham. Losing him to a rival would be particularly damaging to Tottenham’s ambitions, prompting the club to prefer an overseas sale if Romero decides to leave.
Arsenal’s defensive setup is already world‑class, but the injury‑hit William Saliba has limited options at centre‑back. Adding Romero, a World Cup winner and natural leader, would provide both depth and experience, bolstering Arsenal’s campaign for domestic titles and the UEFA Champions League.
Having claimed the Premier League title last season, Arsenal are eager to reinforce their squad with seasoned leaders to contend for further honours. Romero’s pedigree, highlighted by World Cup and Copa América victories with Argentina, makes him an attractive prospect for a club seeking growth both on and off the pitch.
