Arsenal are preparing a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Gunners were linked with the Italian international earlier this year, but no formal offer had been made to the Magpies. However, speculation has persisted, and Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that Arsenal have reached out to Tonali’s representatives.
Having recently sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £70 million, Newcastle’s finances have improved after a difficult season, positioning them well for negotiations. A bid of at least £100 million may be required to persuade Newcastle to part ways with Tonali.
While Manchester United has also been associated with the former AC Milan player, they seem unlikely to enter a bidding war. At present, Arsenal appear to be the frontrunners in pursuing the 26‑year‑old midfielder.
