Asteria Group has acquired Mercian Labels, establishing the UK firm as its 41st production facility.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Located in Burntwood, Staffordshire, Mercian Labels specializes in self‑adhesive labels for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors.
The company’s production capabilities encompass flexographic and digital printing—including inkjet—and a range of finishing options.
In addition, the firm supplies blank labels and variable‑data products.
Asteria’s statement notes that the acquisition expands its footprint within the UK labels market.
Mercian brings expertise in tamper‑evident and security labels that enhance product protection and traceability for high‑value goods.
The LabelLock portfolio features security labels and tapes, incorporating microtext on a transparent adhesive edge and an ‘in‑register’ void signal.
Each label and every 150 mm of tape carries a unique printed number beneath the surface and a scannable code, designed to mitigate editing or replacement risks.
These products are engineered to endure temperature fluctuations and chemical exposure.
Mercian maintains an AA+ BRCGS Packaging Materials accreditation and complies with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
CEO Ives Declerck stated, ‘We are pleased to welcome the Mercian team to Asteria. Mercian has established an outstanding reputation for quality, expertise, and customer focus. Their capabilities dovetail seamlessly with our current UK operations, while their strong presence in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical markets opens new avenues for growth.’
