Australia have rested their premier pace trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc from the squads for the upcoming white-ball series against England.
The veteran fast bowlers, who featured in all three Tests during the recent 2-1 series defeat against South Africa, have been rested for the three-match ODI series starting in Perth on November 13.
Both Cummins and Hazlewood have also been omitted from the five-match T20 series commencing on November 21, though Starc, at 36, has already retired from the format.
Twenty-one-year-old fast bowler Mahli Beardman has been named in both squads and is in line to make his international debut in the ODI series, while the uncapped duo of Sam Harper and Lachlan Shaw have been included for the T20 matches.
Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, and Matt Renshaw— all of whom also featured in the South Africa series — have been included in the ODI squad but are not part of the T20 setup.
Although Pat Cummins, 33, formally remains the ODI captain, he has featured in only one 50-over match since November 2024. Consequently, Mitchell Marsh, his frequent deputy and the T20 captain, will once again step in as captain for the longer format.
Seamer Nathan Ellis, a regular in the white-ball setup, has been included only in the T20 squad following a side strain sustained during the September ODI tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, fellow pacer Jack Edwards has been named in both squads after making his debut on that tour.
All-rounder Liam Scott, who last played a 50-over match against Bangladesh in June, has been recalled to the ODI squad. Additionally, spinners Nikhil Chaudhary and Joel Davies— who both made their only T20 appearances on that same tour — have been selected for the 20-over fixtures.
Top-order batters Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mitchell Owen have been recalled to the T20 squads after not featuring in recent series. Meanwhile, Tim David has been selected solely for the shorter format despite recently returning to 50-over domestic cricket.
