Bangladesh Cricket Board Expresses Confidence in India’s 2026-27 Tour Amid Ongoing Discussions

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) remains optimistic about India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh for six white-ball matches during the 2026-27 season. Earlier this month, BCB President Tamim Iqbal indicated that the series, comprising three ODIs and three T20 Internationals, might face further delays. However, on Monday, Tamim clarified that discussions between the two boards are progressing positively, aiming to reinstate the tour into the official calendar.

According to Tamim, both the BCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are actively engaged in negotiations, with the former expressing hope for a resolution. Cricinfo reports that the BCB has received encouraging signals from the BCCI, suggesting the tour could commence early next year.

The series’ trajectory has been complicated by past tensions. Initially announced on January 2, the tour was derailed by a dispute following the exclusion of Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL). This misalignment prompted Bangladesh’s interim government to withdraw the nation from the T20 World Cup in February, straining bilateral relations. With the restoration of democratic governance, the current administration has adopted a more collaborative stance, fostering renewed optimism for India’s visit.

Tamim’s recent delegation trip to India, including a visit to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, marked a pivotal step in mending relations. The series, originally slated for August 2025, was deferred to September 2026, yet no formal schedule has been confirmed to date. The ongoing dialogue between the boards signals a potential breakthrough, offering hope for cricketing engagement between the two nations in the coming season.
